Wicked
The Green Assault on Virtuous Green
On November 21, 2024, Universal Pictures released a marvelous screen adaption of the hugely successful stage musical known as Wicked. At about the same time, the ESG Platform Leader for the accounting firm PwC Canada released a two-minute video on social media with two of her “energy transition” minions. Common to both productions is the character of Madame Morrible as she orchestrates parallel plot themes: squelch speech and demonize dissenters.
With regard to Shiz University Sorcery Studies and PwC Canada ESG Sorcery, the major difference is style. The musical uses supernatural power whereas the brief interview uses linguistic bait and switch. For example, the most often repeated concepts in the latter are Canadians (6), Transition (5), Educate (3), Uncertainty (3), Affordability (3), Investment (2), Articulate (2), Journey (2) and Impact (2). Not coincidentally, there is no attempt to link these ideas to objectively provable evidence or causality. Why? Because they can’t. There isn’t any.
However, to fully appreciate the ambiguous terminology, this progressive decoder guide will reveal the deeper meaning of the PwC Canada dialogue: Canadians = Ignoramuses, Transition = Intervention, Educate = Reprogram, Uncertainty = Guilt, Affordability = Selflessness, Investment = Kickback, Articulate = Hoodwink, Journey = Sentence, Impact = Degradation.
For example, this question in the conversation gains clarity with an unambiguous translation, “What could be done better to bring Ignoramuses along for the sentence and reprogram them about the topics of energy intervention and selflessness?” Because this question was asked twice and includes the most repeated buzzwords, a rational person must conclude that the transition to diffuse and inefficient energy sources is to be forced regardless of consequences.
For example, wind and solar projects consume vast amounts of energy to build and maintain, are environmental and economic disasters, always increase energy costs to consumers and vulnerable people will suffer and die. In fact, their only purpose is to line the pockets of political donors for paying indulgences to government authorities for consolidating their power over the Canadian economy. To be sure, a vicious feedback loop.
Bear in mind, a legitimate investment must have an internal rate of return; one that is determined by the poetic justice of the profit motive. In fact, it is that very wealth creation by honest and intelligent Canadians that is looted by government spending on green energy projects that have no legitimate profits. Why? Because there are none and that is the point - to destroy capitalism for the sake of unearned wealth and power.
More broadly, any culture that debases money, degrades prices, denigrates markets and demonizes profit, the productive energy of that society will be punished and depleted by the force of government and their allied street anarchists. That is how this insanity becomes mainstream democracy.
In the musical, Madame Morrible demonizes Elphaba for refusing to comply with suppression of speech and academic indoctrination; her counterpart at PwC Canada is threatening the same treatment for Canadians who fail to become educated for their forced march toward energy transition. Yet, both are rationalized as being for “the greater good.” In total, this is what makes the priests of green energy truly Wicked.
